GBMAA sent a small team out to this years Judement day in sheffield.

Our own Cheif Instructor and GB Elite team member Mr W Lucas, Mr A Kennedy and Miss R Higgins were in attendance.

Miss Higgins performed very well and showed signs of a great fighter in the making.

Mr Kennedy battled with some tough competition in the -80kg semi contact catagory finally succumbing to the dynamic fighting style of Chris Locke.

All fights in WAKO events are 2 x 90 sec rounds all the way to the final, which makes the competitions tough and grulling. Fitness is a must!

Mr W Lucas the sole GB ELite member fighting that day only entered the continuous and Open weight cash challenge.

The two catagories conflicted on the day reuslting in mr lucas having to pull out of the cash cahllenge to put all his energy into the continuous.

After defeating his first opponent, he was looking forward to meeting Nick guy in the semi final. Mr Guy is a very experienced fighter and has a similar fighting style to Mr Lucas.

"i was glad to see i had Nick next round, his unorthodox fighting style really tested me and i felt i fought well, we ended up going to extra time and he nabbed it by split decision. The fight was so close after watching the video back it could have gone either way!"

Mr Lucas went home with a bronze medal but still has his sights set on WKA worlds championship glory later this year!
